Anastasia has concocted a frolicking and instructional hands-on workshop for children about the Greek Gods.

“Being creative with the 12 Greek gods of Olympus” is an upcycling workshop for children during their visit at the Koronekes Olive Mill in Epano Archanes near Heraklion. As part of their craft unit, the young participants learn about Greek mythology, in particular the 12 Greek gods of Mount Olympus, and transform, toilet paper rolls into miniatures of Zeus, Hera and Co. In addition children take part in a nature hunt where they learn about Crete’s most famous plant, the olive tree. Based on the nature finds, they create their own artwork which they can take home as a souvenir. An eco-friendly and unique holiday experience for the little ones! The workshops take place on Mondays and Thursdays in parallel with all the olive oil tastings and cooking classes/demonstrations for adults.

A lemon flavored cupcake made with First Cold Pressed EVOO will be served to the kids for snack time. Fresh water will be available during the whole workshop.

Anastasia is a pedagogue from Germany and the owner of CAACTUS CARE. She organizes creative parties and upcycling workshops for kids across the island, teaching them how to turn single use items like paper cups and plastic bottles into toys, games and other fun things. Crafting with disposable materials encourages children’s creative skills while promoting the development of a sustainable mindset. Anastasia believes that learning through sustainable play makes the world a better place!

Everything is in Nature

Workshop for children with Lou and Dina from Artistic Engineering Lab

Duration: 90 minutes
Cost: 23 euros
Minimum 4 children; maximum 16 children
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Friday at 09.30am and 12pm June-July
Language: French, English and Greek
PARTICIPANTS: Minimum 4 children; maximum 12 children

Created by Lou and Dina, “Everything is in nature” is an educational and creative workshop in nature for children

The children will participate in an active walk in nature where they are invited to express their knowledge and their ideas about the olive grove. We will observe what is happening on the ground, in the sky, all around us. We give them tools to enhance their experience.

Depending on the age and interest of the children, the observation will be enriched with clues, comments, questions and the introduction of new notions. We will, for example, wonder and talk about the relationship between man and the environment.

After the walk, snack and water time.

Under the shade of the olive trees, using the natural elements we collected during the walk, we will push the reflection further using a unique drawing exercise inspired by the working method of a famous American artist. This creative hands-on work of art is used to experiment and complete the notions introduced during the walk.

The workshops take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays in parallel with all the olive oil tastings and cooking classes/demonstrations for adults.

A lemon flavored cupcake made with First Cold Pressed EVOO will be served to the kids for snack time. Fresh water will be available during the whole workshop.
